Beswick Ceramic Animals
The John Beswick Pottery was established in 1894 at Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. Initially producing tableware and ornaments. Since the 1930's Beswick has produced an extensive range of animals, including exotic species. Their earthenware 'fancies' - decorative, whimsical pieces - are finely modeled and well decorated, although their original retail value was low. Beswick animal figures are still among the most popular with collectors. Values have risen significantly since the Beswick factory closed in 2002 but its still possible to pick up a bargain.
Birds, fish, dogs and cattle can often be picked up for less than £100.
The Beswick wild animal range including native and foreign species, from rabbits and foxes to leopards and giraffes can start from £5 to £10 for a rabbit up to £250 for a moose!
